Of the several versions that exist, there is one that is more important. Since it is technically the older of the two collections, it is sometimes referred to as the Elder Edda while the Prose Edda is named the Younger Edda. The Poetic Edda is an unnamed collection, with the modern name being given to it when it was discovered many years after the Prose Edda. Join us as we further explore the Poetic Edda and the fantastic stories that it contains. The text is rich with information that helps us to build a more detailed image of what Norse mythology consisted of and the way in which people lived. In reality, Snorri had nothing to do with the Poetic Edda and it is only named as such because it was found after the Prose Edda. Since the Prose Edda is associated with Snorri, the Poetic Edda is thought to be the same but this is not correct.
